CBS' "Harper's Island" gore and mysterious murder series will certainly glue you to your seats if your are thirsty for blood. Young couple-in-love Henry (Christopher Gorham) and Trish (Katie Cassidy) invite their wedding guests to their childhood island for the nuptials, albeit the murder of six people who were killed brutally seven years ago. CBS' murder miniseries Harper's Island debuts tonight, and a lot of people are already psyched about it after following the online campaign. A webseries over at HarpersGlobe.com introduces viewers to some of the characters and the story, which follows a serial killer on the loose. (Harper's Globe is the name of the local newspaper.) The site is updated each day with new material and video.

Her Majesty Queen Noor and actor Edward Norton both received the 2009 Global Environmental Citizen Awards from the Harvard Medical School's Centre for Health and the Global Environment earlier this week. The awards are presented annually to individuals who have been world leaders in protecting the global environment. This is according to a statement released by the King Hussein Foundation. Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan have also appeared on the Colbert Report tonight. She was to discuss "Global Zero" and also other initiative to eliminate the world's nuclear arsenals.

The Season 8 American Idol finalist, Adam Lambert delivered yet another outstanding performance. Born in 1982 Hollywood, California the 27-year-old picked a hit single from that year, the Tears for Fears Mad World and, as with every song he sings, he made it his very own. The British rock band Tears for Fears saw the single reach No. 3 on the UK singles chart and reach the Top 40 in several countries bringing the band international recognition and popularity. It appeared on the band’s debut album in 1983, The Hurting. Tears for Fears Mad World lyrics and song were written by Roland Orzabal and sung by bassist Curt Smith. The song also topped the charts in the UK when it was covered in 2003 by Michael Andrews and Gary Jules for the soundtrack to the movie Donnie Darko. Now with the Adam Lambert Tears for Fears performance, the song sees yet another surge of popularity. He performed the song in a stripped down and subtle piano-driven orchestral arrangement showcasing the sheer beauty of his voice and the emotional intensity he brought to the song. It led the audience to burst into sporadic screaming and cheering on and off throughout the song.

Aaron Rowand gave the Giants the lead for good with a two-run homer in the fourth and added an RBI double, as San Francisco downed Milwaukee, 10-6, in the season-opener for both teams at AT&T Park.
Travis Ishikawa had a three-run triple and ended 2-for-5 while Bengie Molina hit a solo home run in a 2-for-5 effort for the Giants, who logged a fourth consecutive losing campaign in 2008, finishing fourth in the NL West. San Francisco pounded out 12 hits in all Tuesday, as Randy Winn added a solo shot and Pablo Sandoval had two hits and two runs scored for what was an offensively challenged team last season. The Giants finished dead last in the majors with 94 home runs and their 640 runs scored was the second-lowest total in the National League.

Opening day at the Cell seems subdued - until Jim Thome’s eighth-inning homer detonated the joint. Perhaps it was the common knowledge that none of the biggest questions facing the White Sox were going to be answered on this day — or next week or next month — that made fans to have more restraint than they normally might as the seal was broken on the 2009 season.

Settle in, Sox fans. It will be a wild ride. This season is much to be expected, like Tuesday’s 4-2 inaugural win over the Royals, to feature a little of everything. Just where the high-wire act now in progress will take these White Sox is anybody’s guess, which makes for a season filled with intrigue. It was everything anyone would expect it to be. Joe Castiglione, the radio announcer introduced The Rays. James Shields and Matt Garza were given the loudest boo. Gape Kapler recieved a long standing ovation, while Rhode Island native Dan Wheeler drew some cheers, and Northeastern alum Carlos Pena recieved some applause. The Red Sox entered the field through the stands and then made their way to the first base line. Dustin Pedroia, the reigning MVP, seemed tp receive the loudest roar. Daisuke Matsuzaka, Jon Lester, David Ortiz, Johnn Pesky, John Smoltz, Jonathan Papelbon, Terry Francona, and Jacoby Ellsbury, in no particular order, received the second-loudest rounds of cheers.
